To Prepare For A Hurricane, Do What Winning Teams Do: Get A Game Plan.
STATE Situational Awareness Report
Baton Rouge, LA, August 25, 2008 – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) urges Louisiana residents to heighten awareness during the months of August and September. Those months have proven to be a time of increased tropical activity in the Atlantic Basin. “We are lucky Tropical Storm Fay turned out to be more of a rain event for Louisiana. This event allowed us to test our response procedures with our local, state and federal partners,” says GOHSEP Director Mark Cooper. Tropical Storm Gustav is the seventh named storm of the season. GOHSEP is in communication with the National Weather Service to maintain situational awareness on the development of Gustav. This is a good time for Louisiana residents to review their emergency plans. For updated information visit www.ohsep.louisiana.gov. To get a family plan visit www.getagameplan.org.
